BAND BIO'S
DAVE: Dave started learning guitar while residing in Vancouver before moving to Kamloops. Since he's been living here he's been performing on one level or another with a variety of talented Kamloopsians which eventually lead to the beginnings of the Strange Brew band. As well as playing a variety of guitars and contributing his share of vocals, he also runs the PA system, lights and other necessities that help us to put on a great show. Pretty fly for an old guy if you ask me.
STEVE: Steve has been playing bass since 1980, and after studying commercial music at the Capilano College in 1984/1985, he played locally here and there until he helped to start Strange Brew in 1989. He's also performed in the district and provincial honour choir. Jazz has always been his biggest influence and when he's on his wireless system he can be found cruising the dance floor checking out the sound as well as "other" things. Rarely do you find such energy in a bass player, which he shares freely with the crowd as well as his sense of humour........just stay away from his drink!
BRAD: Brad started guitar at a young age and from there his talents grew to include trumpet during high school but when he discovered that chicks digged guitar playing guys, that became his major instrument. After graduating he went on to train at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto which resulted in a performance diploma and somwhere along the way, were not sure when, he developed an obsession about Steve wearing red wigs "an extremely rare occasion". The multiple talents he's brought into the band have added tremendously to the dynamics and quality of our shows. Currently he's writing songs that we're looking forward to sharing with you down the road.
DANNIE: Dannie was born into a musical family and learned to play drums, piano and flute on an amateur level at a very young age. During high school she found the two things she loved to do the most (well, that we're going to tell you about anyway) was singing and playing the trumpet, which lead to a lot of touring of Western Canada at the beginning of her career. In 1991 she moved to Kamloops and helped start The Big Chill band. After a lengthy illness and recovery from Lyme Disease, she is the latest member to join Strange Brew where once again she is doing the two things she loves most...as much of the vocals as she can and blowing her own horn.
FRED: Fred was a musical kid, hands into all kinds of instruments until some of the drummers he jammed with weren't able to make the practices so he'd sit in. From there, drums became his new fascination (about the same time that girls and other things we can't say here did too) and as a self taught drummer he became highly popular with several bands over the years. When family life took precidence for several years he abstained from playing all together until, just like the call of a drug, he had to get his fix. The fun he's had with travelling, recording studios, socializing with other musicians as well as the crowd he plays for, all inspire him.
"Thanks for all of your contributions to the band over the years. We appreciated your professionalism and encouragement.
Your perfect meter was your trademark. Keep on drumming Greg".
"You Rocked !!!!"
